Suzanna Winton Soulful Portraits Workshop in Watercolor
Have you thought about painting a portrait but don’t know where to begin? Or perhaps you’ve been asked to paint one but just don’t know how.
Come learn just how easy portrait painting can really be. You’ll learn invaluable information on what materials work best, along with the do’s and don’ts of portraiture. Students will learn how to capture the personality and spirit through your subject’s eyes as well as other pertinent information about what makes a portrait painting work. This no nonsense approach teaching style of portrait painting breaks down skin tones into three different applications of lights, mid tones, and darks. This easy to learn formula can be applied to all skin tones. The student will also learn luminous color recipes from skin tone charts that are sure to make your portrait’s sing.
In this three day workshop, you’ll start the day off, each day, with a painting demonstration from the instructor that will last about an hour. Then you will be provided a photo and a line drawing of the same subject to follow along with and try your hand at. After lunch, each day, their will be a second demonstration of a special feature. Such as, the eyes, nose, and or mouth. All eye colors, different shaped noses, and mouths closed and open will be demonstrated.. You will then be provided with a photo to paint from the same subject matter. You will also learn the in’s and out’s of commission work as well as other helpful advise on how to become a full time artist.
On the last day you may bring a photo of your choice to work on and the instructor will help you with it.
All levels are welcome and will receive copious amounts of instruction and attention. Participants will leave this workshop with a full understanding of how to successfully and confidently paint a soulful portrait in watercolor.
